Laurel Avenue

The Laurel Avenue Project was part of an ambitious total home renovation of this simple 1966 ranch home in Boulder. As part of the redesign, the owners altered the footprint of the home, creating an exciting U shape. A dining room and primary bedroom suite were added off the back of the house. They also created volume and light by adding a loft with an amazing spiral staircase and a two-story ceiling over the living room. The challenge was to create a kitchen that was interesting with a mid-century modern vibe while providing a more open and functional flow. The design incorporated a vintage stainless steel GE wall oven as a warming or secondary oven that the owners salvaged from the original kitchen. It was in excellent condition. The kitchen island design was highlighted with a custom walnut countertop showcasing waterfall edges.

For the primary bath and the hallway bath, we designed floating vanities to highlight the floor tile.

Zamia Ave

The Zamia Avenue Project transformed this cul de sac kitchen into a baker’s and chef’s dream! The design of this kitchen now enables the owners to prepare bread, pastries, and gourmet meals in adjacent work zones. Storage space is right where it’s needed. A convenient key drop area and bench at the back entrance help keep everything in its place.

Huron Court

The Huron Court Project created a bright, open kitchen and living room space in this South Boulder home. The owners chose natural maple slab cabinet doors with dramatic black countertops. Once the previously confining wall was removed, a load-bearing post had to be incorporated into the design. The owners selected a sleek black metal post coordinating beautifully with the countertops.

Orchard Court

The Orchard Court Project was part of a larger first-floor remodel of this Boulder home. The new design transformed the tiny, dated kitchen into a gorgeous, large, open space. The white acrylic slab cabinet doors and drawers created a bright and inviting kitchen. Additional storage space was hidden in the back of the island behind the thermally fused melamine doors. The hickory floors completed the look by adding an organic element to the design.

Evans Drive

The Evans Drive Project was a mid-century modern first-floor renovation of a tri-level house in Boulder. The design maximized all available space to return more functional space than before the remodel without adding additional square footage. The creative reallocation of space enabled an open kitchen, dining room, and living room space with the addition of a large pantry and half bath. This design was an NKBA Peak Award Finalist.

Downing Street

The Downing Street Project converted the tiny kitchen in this Denver bungalow into a spacious expanse for cooking and entertaining. Once a confining wall was removed in a previous remodel phase, I reconfigured the space around a central staircase. The design incorporated zones for cooking, storage, and entertaining while maintaining a sense of flow and cohesion. This design was an NKBA Peak Award Finalist.


Kitchen in East Boulder

The Laurel Avenue Project was a first floor renovation of a 1972 home in Boulder. The new design involved the removal of the interior walls which previously defined a confined kitchen, dining and living rooms. The addition of red birch cabinets on the kitchen perimter and painted cabinets on the island, combined with the sleek backsplash transformed this space into a beautiful and welcoming retreat for a family of four.

Country Road 83

The County Road 83 Project was a new construction by Cornerstone Homes built in the foothills of Boulder. This gorgeous home featured dramatic timber frame scissor truss bents and sleek metal accents. The stunning kitchen was finished with custom alder cabinetry with black glaze and a custom venting hood made by Raw Urth in Fort Collins. Barn doors into the pantry completed the modern mountain feel. A fantastic moose shoulder mount displayed over the fireplace mantel watches over this wonderful space.

Mariposa Ave

The Mariposa Avenue Project was a complete first-floor renovation of a 1942 home near historic Chautauqua Park. All the interior walls came down to unfold a bright and open space. A quaint lounge area was added adjacent to the kitchen as a perfect spot for morning coffee while enjoying the gorgeous view of the Boulder Flatirons.

Baking Station

The Hudson Street Project transformed the kitchen, laundry, and half bath of this historic 1909 Denver home. The design said goodbye to the 1980s green Formica kitchen and ushered in a new era of airiness and functionality. While maintaining the same footprint, I was able to add valuable storage space in the powder room, laundry, and back door area. The baking station doubles as an area to create delicious treats and a great seating area to oversee kitchen activities.

Mariposa Court

The Mariposa Court Project was a kitchen reconfiguration of this Westminster home. The design dramatically improved the flow of this kitchen by removing a small island that previously hosted just a cooktop without landing areas. New cherry Shaker-style cabinets with stacked wall cabinets were finished in a rich espresso stain. A new stainless venting hood completed this beautifully sleek and functional kitchen.

Brocksway Drive

The Brocksway Drive Project was a gorgeous kitchen transformation of this Boulder home within the same footprint. The design reconfigured the wall cabinets without losing any storage space. The white cabinets, a light countertop, and a whimsical backsplash combined with dramatically improved lighting made this kitchen a joyful space.
